How can Reiki help you quit smoking and fight the effects from smoking?

Reiki is an Japanese healing technique that is becoming increasingly popular. One for this, is because of its ability to help smokers quit, and also help fight the bad effects from smoking. Here’s just how it can help:

Reduces stress

One of the major reasons people take up smoking is due to stress. A common misconception is that smoking relieves stress, but it actually does quite the opposite. Nicotine is a mood-altering drug, so it can feel like it’s easing stress and anxiety. But nicotine only increases your body’s stress levels and causes various negative internal reactions.

Reiki’s main purpose is to balance out our body’s energy. When our energy is imbalanced, it may be expressed through emotions such as stress and anxiety. Once it is rebalanced we feel emotionally balanced too, and therefore wouldn’t feel the need to smoke.

Strengthens immune system

Smoking weakens the immune system. In fact, it weakens and damages nearly every organ in the body. Smoke from a cigarette contains high levels of damaging chemicals which reduces the antibodies and cells that are in the body to protect it from such chemicals.  When you smoke, you’re putting stress on your immune system, as it’s trying to fight off the damage, so it eventually weakens.

Reiki strengthens the body’s immune system by boosting white blood cells, something which the immune system relies on. White blood cells in the body reduce and weaken through stress. As reiki helps the body release stress, there’s a chance for the cells to regenerate and therefore strengthen the immune system.

Mentally healing

Smoking is not just physically damaging, it’s mentally damaging too. Addiction is a mental health problem that could be developed through smoking. However, it’s really the nicotine that causes it. Nicotine is highly addictive because of its ability to alter chemical levels in your brain and smokers find this very enjoyable. Nicotine cravings can be severe and withdrawals can even lead to depression

Reiki is ideal for those who are trying to quit smoking but are battling with the effects of nicotine withdrawals. Research shows that the people in participation and received Reiki showed both immediate and long-term improvements in depression after six weeks of treatment and for up to a year afterward.

Helps detox the body

Smoking intoxicates your whole body. Smoking a cigarette releases sorts of poisonous, cancer-causing chemicals into the bloodstream. Rat poisoning and ingredients used to make batteries and fertilizers, to name a few. You don’t even need to smoke a cigarette to infect your bloodstream, but just stand near someone who is and inhale the second-hand smoke.

Energy from Reiki promotes the release of toxins in the body. This can be both mental and physical toxins that build up in the body after bad experiences or poor health habits, like smoking. After having Reiki done, people have experienced cold and flu like symptoms. This is a sign that the process has worked.
