Charlotte center celebrates first birthday

Charlotte, NC - Rich Miller was a smoker for over 35 years. In 2001 he had a stroke at the age of 50. Heart related issues contributed to his already difficult situation. Despite his health problems he continued to smoke more than 30 cigarettes a day. He tried a few quitting methods but nothing worked. His doctors plea's to quit when unheeded because of his addiction. He was a heart attack on its way to happening.

In 2005 Rich saw an ad for a stop smoking treatment using cold lasers. Intrigued, he investigated the treatment and learned there was a location in Charlotte, the Anne Penman Laser Therapy Center, that offered the treatment. He called the Center to learn more.

The Anne Penman treatment used cold lasers on specific energy points on the ears, nose, hands and wrists to promote the release of calming endorphins. These are the same endorphins he got when he smoked a cigarette. Since this method provided a healthy alternative to his smoking habit he signed up.

The laser treatments helped Rich deal with his cigarette cravings along with the anxiety and withdrawal symptoms related to his nicotine addiction. Smoking all the way to the Center's door he enjoyed his last cigarette and committed himself to being successful. After his first treatment the cravings dissipated. He was on his way to becoming a non-smoker. His follow-up treatment firmed up his conviction to be successful and now, after many years he is still smoke free.

Rich found that this method was an easy, painless, and drug-free method to help kick the habit.

Based on his success Rich became a proponent for the program and shared his success story with others. He was distressed to learn that a few months after his treatment the Charlotte location had closed. He felt that his life had changed so much for the better that he raised the necessary funds, quit his job and re-opened the Anne Penman Laser Therapy Center at a new Charlotte location.

As part of the grand opening of the new Charlotte Center, Anne Penman, the founder of the laser treatment method from Glasgow, Scotland attended the Southern Women's Show in Charlotte. Together, Anne and Rich shared their mutual success stories with show attendees.

Anne became an advocate for this method after her first laser therapy treatment over 17 years ago when she was a 60 a day smoker.
